Now the Lord God said, “It is not good (beneficial) for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper [one who balances him—a counterpart who is] suitable and complementary for him.” Genesis 2:18 AMP

It was a Sunday afternoon in 2005. My friends and I decided to visit a friend we’ve not seen for a while. While at this friend’s house, one of her housemates came and joined the conversation. As a guy about town

, I was surprised this girl was on my turf, and I’m only just getting to meet her! When my friends and I were walking back home, I said to them, "I’m going to marry that girl!" That girl is Afiniki Akanet!
God created a wife for a man because He said it is not good for a man to be alone. Some people have a gift to be single and content in singleness. This is a special grace and ability from God, and those individuals should be respected.
Proverbs 19:14 AMP
[14] House and wealth are the inheritance from fathers, But a wise, understanding, and sensible wife is [a gift and blessing] from the Lord.
Niki has exemplified the verse above in my life. She is wise because her advice to me is rooted in scripture; she’s understanding of my weaknesses and bears with me and sensible in how she manages me, our children, and our home. I am so grateful for this woman; I struggle to find words to express how grateful I am.
The amplified version also uses the words gift and blessing! A gift needs to be unwrapped to reveal its substance. I believe the unwrapping by the man takes special guidance from God. I believe the key is in Ephesians 5 vs. 25. - Being selfless just like Jesus!
Omoge, Thank you for being God’s gift to my life. Thank you for honouring God in how you live your life, thereby making me happy, content and fulfilled. I’m excited about the future Christ has for us. Thank you, and thank God!
