Your mentors don’t have to look like you
"Your mentors don’t have to look like you; open your heart to receive from anyone."
We live in a world that seeks to divide based on race, social economics class, gender, tribe, nationality, etc.
There are a few people that come into our lives and change who we are and help us find purpose.
I met
Matthew Ling over 15 years ago and the impact of his friendship on my life can never be measured.
His active and passive mentoring has helped me evaluate life better, making me see clearly what I’d like my future to look like.
He made his children’s packed lunch... I watched him.
He will leave his house early to set up chairs for his congregation for Sunday meetings.....I watched him.
He creates a platform for younger ones to rise so they can reach their potential... I watched him.
He and his lovely wife will open their home and cook for people... I watched them
He will give up his time to spend quality time with people... I received.
The command is to go into the world and make disciples. That is to be life-long mentees and then to be mentors. I ask myself who should I be giving more time to in the way of helping them in their career, marriage, family life, etc., and who should I give my time to draw from so I can grow regardless of their race, age, tribe, or gender. The world needs you to give and receive!
