In 2014, when we became parents, Niki and I decided to get a "family car." It just happened that my car broke down, and we had to get a new one.

I am a fan of the auction, and I had purchased my previous cars from the auction, so we thought we’d go down the same route. Before we left home, we decided on the car we wanted, and we agreed. 5-door hatchback or similar.

When we got to the auction, all the cars we saw didn’t fit our specifications, so we decided we’d come another time. Sophie needed feeding, so Niki left the auction room, but I decided to wait a little longer to see how much the other cars were being sold for.

Then came this beauty! I’ve always dreamt of driving a Toyota Celica; there it was being auctioned off. I really can’t explain what happened next, but I remember hearing 800 once and 800 twice, and my hand went up! Sold, it’s yours.
