Health is wealth they say. I am grateful to be alive and grateful to have you as friends.
My friends will know I suffer from a condition called sickle cell disease. In most cases, I live a normal life but there are times when I do have a sickle cell Crisis that leaves me in severe pain and tiredness and have to go to the hospital to get the pain under control.
2023 was that year! I had a major episode in April and another as we were ending 2023 but grateful for life. Health is wealth!
Sickle cell disease like most chronic illnesses can affect people’s mental health and as a result, can have an impact on how patients see themselves and the world around them.
I started a platform in 2022 to help motivate patients and raise awareness of the condition of
Sickle Cell Mentorship -SCM. Increasing your knowledge, helping raise awareness of the condition and signposting people to our social media platforms are ways you can support sickle cell patients.
