?When I mention "favour," the human mind easily drifts toward open doors, new opportunities, or a sudden level of increase. While I don’t deny those can be the byproducts of favour, I believe it is not limited to them—nor is that where favour truly starts.
?I am a living product of God’s favour! When I say this, I am reflecting on my life. There are certain significant events, mistakes, and mishaps—some self-inflicted, others just a result of life being life—that should have disqualified me from experiencing the hallmarks of God’s kingdom: Peace and Joy. Yet, here I am.
?The story of Joseph perfectly illustrates this sequence:
?Genesis 39:20-21 (NKJV)
[20] Then Joseph’s master took him and put him into the prison, a place where the king’s prisoners were confined. And he was there in the prison. [21] But the Lord was with Joseph and showed him mercy, and He gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison.
?Notice the order: God’s mercy came before His favour.
?The mercy of God, through the blood of Jesus, is what paved the way for you and me to enjoy His blessings. His mercy is what prevented that horrible mistake from having a permanent, devastating impact. His mercy is what cleared that false accusation when you thought there was absolutely no way out. Favour flourishes where mercy has already cleared the ground.
?Are you in need of God’s mercy today? His arms are open wide, and He is calling you to come just as you are.
