A while back I saw the certificate of the accreditation a friend of mine achieved. The motto of the organisation that awarded him says, "Making excellence a habit." I thought, what a great motto to have!
Jesus was speaking, and he said in Matthew 5:48 ESV
[48] You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
Jesus was referring to perfection in our mental and moral character. Coming to a place of maturity in our conduct.
Heavenly realities on earth for me looks like God’s children exhibiting God-like character, in other words, Godliness. As believers, Godliness is only possible through the Holy Spirit. Being conscious of and acting under the influence of the Holy Spirit all the time brings us to a place of perfection!
I write this as a personal challenge to myself– perfection is an attainable goal; it looks like a mature believer living through the power of the Holy Spirit.
For me, maturity is Love. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 ESV
[4] Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant [5] or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; [6] it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. [7] Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
I pray in all we do we act in love because true perfection embodies love, and love is the true mark of God’s people who are charged with the assignment of bringing heaven to earth!
Be a blessing; be loving.
