If you live in a house without a combi boiler in the UK you will understand how precious hot water is and the need to manage it wisely.

My son loves his showers and it is a constant battle between both of us i.e. me getting irritated by how long he takes in the shower. For this reason, I try to go before him so I can enjoy a hot shower!

In my bid to help manage this wasteful habit of his, I told him he only needed to shower for 5 min.

On the day after we had the 5-minute conversation, he seemed to have taken on my advice and stayed for 9 minutes

. When he came out of the shower I praised his effort and asked did you check the time when you went in? He said yes I asked how long they stayed and he said 5 minutes! I quickly corrected him and said 9min and he replied and said 5 min on the bathroom clock is too fast!
