Shadow of a leader -

I remember being in a management training class many years ago and I heard the term shadow of a leader. The shadow of the leader refers to the influence a leader may have on their team, because of their behaviours, actions and leadership style. A hands-on manager will birth a hands-on team. A lazy manager will birth a lazy team. It is not enough to have effective teams when the manager is present.

I believe the true test of effective leadership is how the team behaves in the absence of the leader or manager. The right behaviour can only be achieved when the culture - set by the leader is right! The behaviour or mood of a leader can affect the productivity and mental well-being of the team. Actions speak louder than words.
